How to measure interpupillary distance?

How to measure interpupillary distance?

Today, we're going to teach you a trick to ensure your new glasses fit you perfectly: understanding what pupillary distance (PD) is.

So, what exactly is interpupillary distance?

PD is the distance in millimeters between the center of your pupils. Without it, you might see the world a little off-kilter.

How do I find out my pupillary distance?
If you visit our optical stores, our professionals will measure it for you. If you're shopping online and need to know it, here are some practical tips for measuring it yourself.

Tips for measuring your interpupillary distance at home.

1. Before you start: Ask someone to help you measure it with a ruler. Keep in mind that the distance between your pupils is a certain length, so you’ll need to divide it in half.

2. If your measurement isn't a perfect round number when you divide to find the PD for each eye, don’t worry! It happens more often than you'd think. Simply round to the nearest number, and we’ll take care of the rest.

3. Typically, your pupillary distance will range between 58 and 68 millimeters. If your measurement is different, or if you have a prescription higher than 6 diopters, it’s best to give us a call. We’ll assist you however we can. Or come visit us—it’s always a pleasure to see you!
