Sustainability, tradition and craftsmanship
The Italian Mazzucchelli family has been our acetate supplier since we were born. Currently, Mazzucchelli 1849 is a world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of cellulose acetate, traditionally used for the production of prescription and sunglasses frames.
Sustainability
At Miller & Marc we believe in the concept of “sustainable creativity” and in that, without a doubt, the Mazzucchelli family is king.
Since we were born, we chose them so that they would be the ones who supplied us with our most precious asset: the cellulose acetate with which we make our frames.
Conventional acetate
Most high-quality frames are made from cellulose acetate, a material derived primarily from wood pulp and cotton. However, the plasticizers used in production are chemical-based, making it plastic
Biological acetate
Mazzucchelli has developed a cellulose acetate compound with plant-based plasticizers, resulting in a product from renewable sources that is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. At Miller & Marc, we are using this material for most of our frames, and to our surprise, it is even of better quality!
Tradition
There are certain parts of Italy where the high quality frame manufacturing industry has existed for centuries. This is the case of Lombardy, where Mazzuchelli was born in 1849. This family factory has existed for six generations, always being at the forefront of design and technology, but without forgetting that certain processes must be done in a traditional way to preserve the quality of the product. Its strength lies in a tradition of a very special kind: the tradition of modernity.
And surely this was what made us fall in love with them: that they do not conform. And what makes us continue to be faithful years later: that there is no one better than them.
