In Spain, social security does not cover this need. Our country suffers from serious "social myopia." But what is social myopia? It is when a person only sees the shortcomings of society when they are right under their noses.
Our contribution
Every month we donate up to 50 prescription glasses to those in need, offering free eye exams at our opticians.
Our proposal is that Social Security cover the cost of these products for people at risk of social exclusion. And it seems that they are listening to us, because there are political projects underway!
What includes?
We focus on subsidizing those products with higher prices:
• Single vision glasses for prescription lenses with myopia (sphere) values greater than +/-5 sphere diopters and/or astigmatism (cylinder) values greater than -3 diopters.
• Progressive glasses for prescription lenses with any prescription value (indices 1.5 / 1.6 / 1.67)
*Custom treatments are not included.
** For extreme prescriptions that exceed the manufacturing limits of these lenses, a personalized quote will be offered with a significant savings compared to the market price.
